Job Description
We are seeking highly experienced Senior and Principal Azure Cloud Engineers specializing in Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Security. This role focuses on designing, implementing, securing, and governing large-scale Microsoft Azure environments for enterprise workloads.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Azure architecture, infrastructure automation, and security-by-design, capable of driving cloud standards, mentoring engineers, and influencing platform strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Infrastructure
- Design, build, and manage highly available, scalable Azure infrastructure
- Lead Azure cloud adoption, migration, and modernization initiatives
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using:
- Terraform
- ARM Templates
- Bicep
- Architect solutions using core Azure services including:
- Azure Virtual Machines, VM Scale Sets
- Azure App Services, Azure Functions
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Azure Storage (Blob, Files, Queues)
- Implement monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Optimize Azure environments for cost management, performance, and resiliency
Azure Security
- Design and implement Azure-native security controls and governance guardrails
- Implement and manage:
- Azure Identity & Access Management (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD)
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Managed Identities
- Secure environments using:
- Azure Defender / Microsoft Defender for Cloud
- Azure Policy
- Azure Blueprint concepts (or Azure Landing Zones)
- Implement encryption, key management, and secrets management using:
- Azure Key Vault
- Customer-managed keys (CMK)
- Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards (NIST, CIS, ISO, SOC2)
DevOps & Automation
- Integrate Azure infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines using:
- Azure DevOps
- GitHub Actions
- Enable automated provisioning, configuration management, and security scanning
- Collaborate with application teams to support cloud-native and hybrid architectures
Leadership & Principal-Level Expectations
- Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight across multiple teams
- Define Azure cloud standards, reference architectures, and best practices
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers
- Act as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership and stakeholders
- Drive long-term Azure platform strategy and roadmap
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, or security
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise environments
- Deep knowledge of:
- Azure networking (VNETs, peering, Private Endpoints, Azure Firewall)
- Azure compute, storage, and PaaS services
- Azure security and governance
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation
- Strong understanding of hybrid cloud and on-prem integration
- Experience working in highly regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure certifications:
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Azure Security Engineer Associate
- Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
- Experience with Azure Landing Zone architecture
- AKS and container security experience
- Knowledge of Zero Trust and identity-first security models
- Prior experience in a Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Technical Lead role
