Café Exchange is a new gathering place coming to The Park in Berkeley Heights, blending culture, coffee, and community in a space designed for connection, conversation, and a little time to unwind. With artisan drinks, fresh pastries, thoughtfully prepared food, live events, and a cozy library-inspired atmosphere, Café Exchange is being built as a place people will want to return to throughout the day.

We’re looking for a dependable Dishwasher who understands that a great hospitality experience depends just as much on what happens behind the scenes as what guests see out front. You’ll help keep our kitchen and service operation clean, organized, stocked, and ready throughout the day. From keeping dishes and serviceware moving to maintaining clean work areas and supporting the team during busy periods, you’ll play an important role in keeping Café Exchange running smoothly from open to close.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Support the café floor as needed by clearing and resetting tables, removing used glassware and dishes, and helping keep guest spaces clean, polished, and welcoming.
• Move through guest-facing spaces with awareness and professionalism, recognizing that even behind-the-scenes support contributes to the elevated hospitality experience we want to create.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly organize dishes, glassware, flatware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment, ensuring everything returned to service is clean, polished, and ready for our guests.
• Keep the dish area clean, organized, and moving efficiently throughout service.
• Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen, storage, service, and back-of-house areas throughout the day.
• Keep clean dishes, glassware, utensils, and serviceware stocked and ready so the culinary and café teams can deliver seamless service.
• Stay ahead of the needs of the team by recognizing when dishes, supplies, or serviceware need to be replenished before they run out.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for daily service, special events, and other Café Exchange experiences.
• Jump in with light food preparation and other kitchen or service support when needed.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and properly storing supplies.
• Empty trash and recycling and maintain waste areas according to sanitation and safety standards.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors and other kitchen areas to provide a clean and safe environment.
• Follow best practices for cleaning chemicals, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety.
• Work closely with the culinary and café teams during busy periods, stepping in where needed to help service run smoothly.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous dishwasher, kitchen, restaurant, café, or food-service experience is welcome, but we’re open to training someone with the right work ethic and reliability.
• A strong sense of cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail.
• Dependability and the ability to consistently arrive ready to work.
• Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a busy kitchen environment.
• A team-first mindset and willingness to help wherever needed.
• Understanding of basic sanitation and workplace safety practices, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to safely use commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning products.
• Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
