What are the responsibilities and job description for the Smoothie/Juice shop shift lead position at Tabeyoyo LLC?
Shift Lead — Refresh House
Fairwood Square, Renton WA | Part-time 25-35 hrs/week
About us
We're a neighborhood smoothie and juice bar in Fairwood under new ownership, with plans to expand into grab-and-go prepared foods and a curated pantry. We're small, owner-operated, and building something new for a neighborhood that deserves better food options.
The role
You'll run the front of house independently during your shifts — making smoothies, serving customers, keeping the space clean and welcoming, and ensuring every person who walks in has a great experience. This isn't a "wait for customers and check your phone" job. When the counter is quiet, you're prepping, cleaning, restocking.
The owner is on-site most days but will increasingly be focused on a separate food business. We are looking for someone who can be a good candidate for the future store manager.
What you'll do
- Open or close the shop following established checklists
- Make smoothies, smoothie bowls, and simple food items to recipe spec, quickly and consistently
- Operate POS — ring up orders, process payments, handle the loyalty program
- Greet every customer warmly and help them navigate the menu, especially first-timers
- Keep the entire front of house clean to a high standard — counters, fridge handles, display cases, floors, windows. without supervision.
- Restock ingredients, cups, bottles, and retail items as they run low
- Manage the grab-and-go display fridge — rotate product, check dates, keep it looking full and appealing
- Communicate with the owner about inventory levels, customer feedback, and anything that needs attention
- Train and guide part-time staff during shared shifts
Who you are
- You've worked in food service, coffee, juice bars, or similar fast-casual environments
- You're fast with your hands
- You're genuinely clean. Not "it looks fine" clean. Actually clean. You notice the gunk on a fridge handle before anyone tells you
- You take initiative. If there's downtime, you find productive work — you don't wait to be told
- You're warm and natural with customers. You remember regulars, you suggest menu items, you make people feel welcome
- You can work independently without supervision. When the owner is in the kitchen, you own the front
- You're reliable. You show up on time, you communicate about schedule changes in advance, and you don't disappear early
- You care about food quality and presentation — the smoothie should look as good as it tastes
- Washington State Food Worker Card required (must have or obtain within first 14 days of hire)
Nice to have (not required)
- Interest in Japanese, Thai, or Korean food and ingredients
- Barista or blending experience
- Interest in growing with a small business — this role expands as the shop evolves
Schedule
- 25-35 hours/week depending on your availability
- Must be available for at least some weekend shifts (Saturday is our busiest day)
- Shifts are typically 6-9 hours, 9:45am-6:15pm weekdays and Saturday, 9:30am-4:30pm Sunday
- Consistent weekly schedule — we value predictability for both of us
Compensation
- $19-26/hour depending on performance
- Staff discount on in-house menu items
- Tips (pooled)
