Ecommerce architect

TABACALERA USA Inc.
Fort Lauderdale, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 10/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/16/2026

The Commerce Architect is responsible for defining, governing, and advancing the technology architecture that enables the company’s digital commerce, retail, B2B, and omnichannel capabilities, ensuring eCommerce, retail, customer engagement, payments, loyalty, marketing technology, ERP, data, security, infrastructure, and integration platforms work together as a scalable, secure, and cost-effective ecosystem.

This is an accountable, hands-on role focused on producing practical solution designs, validating technical approaches, and ensuring implementation choices align with business needs and priorities, enterprise standards, security requirements, integration principles, and measurable outcomes.

The Commerce Architect works closely with delivery teams, business stakeholders, and external implementation partners to provide technical guidance, support design decisions, and help resolve trade-offs, risks, or exceptions without direct people-management responsibility.

The role translates business needs into sustainable technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, speed to market, long-term maintainability, and customer experience across digital, retail, B2B, and B2C channels.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define and govern the target-state commerce architecture, roadmap, standards, reusable patterns, and legacy retirement plans.
  • Translate business requirements into end-to-end designs spanning applications, integrations, data, identity, security, resiliency, and operations.
  • Serve as the technical design authority, approving designs, resolving cross-platform conflicts, managing exceptions, and escalating material risks.
  • Establish requirements for performance, scalability, availability, security, accessibility, recovery, and peak-volume readiness.
  • Align commerce and enterprise platforms by defining system ownership, integration patterns, and reliable data flows.
  • Ensure designs support product, pricing, inventory, orders, payments, loyalty, fulfillment, returns, and customer service across channels.
  • Oversee data migration architecture, reconciliation, quality, and ownership across commerce domains.
  • Define technical acceptance criteria and guide integration, performance, security, resiliency, and operational-readiness testing.
  • Guide environment, configuration, deployment, release, and continuous-delivery standards.
  • Evaluate platforms and partners for fit, security, extensibility, supportability, integration, and total cost of ownership.
  • Hold teams and partners accountable to approved designs, documentation, quality, and supportability standards.
  • Support cutover, go-live readiness, stabilization, defect triage, knowledge transfer, and transition to operations.
  • Ensure monitoring, alerting, logging, service ownership, and support procedures are production-ready.
  • Measure architecture outcomes through performance, reliability, customer experience, speed to market, efficiency, and cost.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 years of experience in enterprise applications, digital commerce, solution architecture, or related technology roles, including enterprise-scale eCommerce solution design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of modern commerce architecture principles, including composable, API-first, cloud/SaaS, identity management, integration patterns, event-driven architecture, and enterprise data flows.
  • Experience integrating commerce platforms with ERP, CRM, POS, payments, loyalty, marketing, customer service, analytics, and other enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into practical, secure, resilient, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Experience working with implementation partners, SaaS vendors, and cross-functional business and technology teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and business audiences.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Commerce platforms such as BigCommerce or similar modern enterprise eCommerce solutions.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM/CDP, integration platforms, payments, loyalty, marketing technology, fraud prevention, analytics, POS, subscriptions, and product/catalog management capabilities.
