Job Description:
Daily responsibilities consist of: reviewing and analyzing application packages for commercial working capital and term debt facilities to make sound credit decisions based on in-depth analysis. The Corporate Credit Analyst works with underwriters, sales/business development, and external business partners in the preparation of formal Credit Summaries while often communicating with the client for information needed to complete the underwriting process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial statements and ratios, business and product cycles, collateral, industry risk, management, historical and projected operating performance, and cash flow coverage to develop an assessment of the credit risk and determine credit worthiness.
- Prepare financial statement spreads upon review of accountant-prepared and/or company-prepared financial statements to assist in evaluating financial condition, and operating trends of prospective Borrowers.
- Analyze personal financial statements and income tax returns of prospective individual guarantors.
- Perform detailed collateral analysis on accounts receivable, inventory and other collateral supporting commercial working capital transactions.
- Assist in preparing in-depth written credit summaries for submission to Loan Committee for formal credit approval.
- Correspond verbally and in writing with applicants, client representatives and other business partners on reasons for credit decisions and/or the request for additional information.
- Obtain credit reports, as well as conduct company and industry research.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics, or within 6 months of completion.
- One to two years equivalent work experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Microsoft Word.
- Microsoft Excel.
- Microsoft Outlook.
- Understanding of business financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement (P&L), and Statement of Cash Flows.
- Basic understanding of accounts receivable and inventory.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in forming an opinion on prospective credits.
