Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting equipment to produce precise metal and material components. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge to ensure high-quality production standards. The Laser Operator will play a vital role in delivering accurate parts efficiently while adhering to safety and quality protocols.
Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor our Amada 3Kw CNC laser
- Load and unload sheet metal using forklifts.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Perform machine setup, tooling changes, and part inspections.
- Adjust cutting parameters for material type, thickness, and desired cut quality.
- Conduct regular quality checks using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc.).
- Identify and troubleshoot minor machine issues or cutting defects.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and cleaning of machines.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members, programmers, and supervisors to ensure production goals are met.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience operating CNC laser machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with different types of sheet metals. We process Mild steel, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel.
- Ability to read blueprints and basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM programs (experience with nesting software is a plus).
- Forklift certification or experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control standards.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and working on your feet most of the day
- Willing to train the right candidate with a solid client-first attitude.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
