Gift Shop Attendant

Reports to: Gift Shop Supervisor
Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly, Full-time
The Gift Shop Attendant is responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service, accurately processing sales transactions, maintaining a clean and organized store, and assisting guests with merchandise inquiries. This role supports a positive guest experience while meeting Taawaki Inn's standards for safety, service, and operational efficiency.
Guest Service & Sales
- Assist guests with merchandise questions and promote purchases to support overall sales goals.
- Accurately process sales using the POS system, handle payments, and provide correct change.
- Pack and ship customer orders as requested and assist with related inquiries.
Shop Operations & Merchandising
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.
- Restock shelves, organize displays, and assist with merchandise presentation to enhance the guest experience.
- Support inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Receive, unpack, inspect, price, ship and stock incoming merchandise.
- File invoices and purchase orders as directed by the Gift Shop Supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations and team needs
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- One year of retail or customer service experience is preferred.
- Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective guest and team interactions.
- Organized and detail-oriented with solid time management skills.
- Comfortable using a Point of Sale (POS) system and handling cash transactions accurately.
- Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
- Positive, professional, and team-oriented demeanor.
- Position may be full-time or part-time based on operational needs (generally 30 hours per week or 80 hours per pay period).
- Maintain a proactive approach to delivering excellent customer service while completing store upkeep tasks reliably.
- Present a professional appearance at all times, including adherence to company grooming and cleanliness standards.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations consistently to support a positive guest experience and workplace culture.
