Assistant Shop Manager - MIT

Position Overview

The Assistant Shop Manager - Manager in Training (ASM-MIT) is a developmental role designed to prepare individuals for future leadership as a Shop Manager. MITs learn all aspects of shop operations, customer service, and team management while performing technician duties. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about automotive service, eager to grow professionally, and ready to lead by example.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Shop Operations

• Check in with customers before they leave to ensure a great experience.
• Run the shop floor, ensuring technicians are properly assigned and vehicles are serviced thoroughly.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with inventory counting and adjustments.
• Train and develop team members.
• Serve as a role model and uphold company standards.
• Hold team members accountable for performance and behavior.

Technician Duties

• Drain motor oil, change oil filters, and grease chassis fittings.
• Wash windshields and adjust tire pressure.
• Inspect and top off vehicle fluids.
• Assist customers in selecting oil types and additional services.
• Process payments for services rendered.
• Perform coolant exchanges and transmission drain & fill services.
• Restock and maintain inventory levels on the shop floor.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the shop, office, and bathrooms.
• Perform all other assigned duties 

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be adaptive to change and eager to learn.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to maneuver in and out of a shallow 3’ deep pit safely.
• Capable of walking, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions (hot/cold).
• Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to safety.
• Excellent communication skills with the public.
• Reliable transportation is required.
