Job Summary:
The mission of the Naval Aviation Rescue Swimmer is to execute search and rescue (SAR) operations from rotary wing aircraft. The Rescue Swimmer shall be physically conditioned to routinely perform demanding rescues in all operational environments. The Rescue Swimmer’s expertise shall provide fleet commanders with the ability to assist Department of Defense and civilian personnel in distress. The rescue swimmer shall be in, and maintain, proper physical condition, be proficient with rescue equipment and have the basic first aid, CPR knowledge and skills necessary to recover and assist personnel during SAR operations. The rescue swimmer must be able to function in physiologically demanding environments at sea or on land during day or night operations.
T3i is seeking a full time Swim Coach for forecasted growth supporting the USN Aviation Rescue Swimmer Preparatory Course (ARSC), the prerequisite to the Aviation Rescue Swimmers School (ARSS). The ARSPC conditions candidates to meet/exceed ARSS’s Physical Screening Test (PST) and High-Risk Training (HRT) entry standards. The Swim Coach will be integrated into a team of Human Performance (HP) and career field Subject Matter Experts (SME) that are responsible for preparing ARSPC candidates for the physical and mental demands of an arduous training pipeline. Daily activities for the Swim Coach may include demonstrating proper swim mechanics, programming, fitness assessments, one-on-one or group coaching, and/or teaching Swim principles/academics in a traditional classroom setting. The Swim Coach will work closely with the other SMEs consisting of Strength and Conditioning, Run and Swim Coaches, as well as former Navy and Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers. Additionally, the Swim Coach will have daily contact and interaction with military ARSPC and ARSS cadre and their respective senior leadership. As such, the selected party must adhere to the highest standards of conduct throughout the course of their daily activities and apply appropriate relationships with candidates, customers, and teammates.

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of sound training skills, relevant to fitness and athletics
- Develop, implement, and teach foundational swimming principal fitness skills to students with varying ability levels
- Build rapport with candidates and motivate them to achieve higher levels of performance
- Strong communication (written and oral), leadership and organizational skills
- Effectively teach various blocks of instruction related to health, fitness and physical performance
- Be prepared to take and pass a fitness test consisting of Pull-ups, Sit-ups, Push-ups, 1.5-mile run, 500-meter swim in accordance with customer expectations
- Maintain a high degree of personal fitness and lead by example
- Be able to demonstrate all physical exercises and events required of the students
- Employ relevant technologies to support the training program and improve students’ performance
- Evaluate and provide written professional assessments on emerging technologies
- Study, follow and apply designated USN training and safety directives and guidelines
- Effectively work with frequent changes, interruptions and varying environmental conditions
Required Skills, and Experience (At a minimum, shall):
- US citizenship
- No felony convictions
- B.S. or B.A. degree in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, and/or experience as a USN, USCG Rescue Swimmer
- Certified Lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with computers, e-mail, voicemail, and mobile messaging
- Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Certified American Swimming Coach (ASCA) Level 1
- Experience developing and conducting athletic programs at high school or above levels
- Experience coaching athletes at the club, collegiate, Olympic or professional level
- Highly successful athlete at the club, collegiate, Olympic or professional level
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
- Experience with Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System (NOFFS)
Required Background Check: National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)
