What You'll Do:
The Safety Engineer will assist in the administration of the company's safety and occupational health programs, with the goal of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees at one or more project sites.
- Lead weekly project safety meetings
- Conduct regular walk-through inspections of construction areas, completing daily work area safety checklists
- Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made
- Monitor all equipment safety inspections and report equipment hours monthly to Project Superintendent
- Prepare, review, and submit incident reports (including near miss incidents) and required forms to Risk Manager
- Provide input on the safety concerns portion of the Project Superintendent's weekly plan
- Address all personal protective equipment requirements and inform Project Superintendent about needs
- Assist in responding to incidents requiring first aid/CPR, including contacting emergency services
- Transport/accompany injured employees to health care facility
- Assist in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems
- Accompany safety, health and insurance inspections on walk through tours as required
- Perform additional safety assignments at supervisor's direction.

What We're Looking For:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, OSHA 510, and CHST certifications
- Prefer a bachelor's degree in occupational safetyhealth, construction management, or similar program with GSP or ASP certification
- Minimum 5-10 years of construction safety experience
- Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license
- Internship or work experience in a commercial construction environment
- Must complete Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace Supervisor Training within 6 months of being in position
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
- Good oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Ability to produce quality work in an efficient manner with little supervision in an ever-changing environment
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications
- Basic knowledge of types of construction equipment used in commercial construction
- Ability to operate motor vehicles as well as basic office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, calculator, telephone, and mobile phone/radio
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, at least eight hours per day, five days per week between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Ability to work on Saturdays and Sundays as needed to meet project schedules and demands Willingness to travel as needed.
