Job Description
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day guidance to a team of test engineers and coordinators, including workload coordination and task prioritization.
- Monitor, analyze, and report team performance against established KPIs.
- Actively assist the sales organization by providing technical guidance during the quoting process, including evaluation of feasibility, scope, risk, and resource requirements.
- Review, validate, and approve test quotes and proposals to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with laboratory capabilities and capacity.
- Partner with Sales and Operations teams to support project planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Train, mentor, and develop test staff to strengthen technical capability and execution consistency.
- Serve as Lead Engineer on complex or high‑visibility projects; contribute to defining technical direction, schedules, and detailed project phases.
- Execute moderate to highly complex regulatory compliance testing to ensure products meet applicable standards.
- Support development of test strategies by defining customer technical requirements and selecting appropriate test equipment.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers; consult on complex technical and regulatory matters.
- Travel to customer sites and attend technical and commercial meetings as required to support testing, troubleshooting, and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with global laboratories to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment of test methods and interpretations.
- Analyze test data, document results, identify deviations, support corrective actions, and prepare reports required for audits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all TÜV and client information.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability to deadlines and quality objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and develop a technical team.
- Advanced engineering knowledge, including testing requirements, manufacturing processes, technical drawings, and applicable standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex technical and scientific information.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Knowledge of U.S. and international regulatory standards and approval requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel; valid driver’s license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Formal regulatory testing training preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience performing regulatory product testing.
- Experience with automated test tools and data acquisition systems.
- Experience testing to NEC, NFPA, UL, CSA, IEC, and EN standards preferred.
