Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing DSM-5 criteria to determine client needs and co-occurring disorders.
- Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and behavioral health interventions.
- Implement motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement and motivation for change.
- Manage crisis situations with effective crisis intervention strategies, ensuring safety and stability for clients experiencing acute distress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, including case management, home and community care, and hospital-based services.
- Maintain accurate, compliant medical documentation adhering to HIPAA standards, including electronic health records (EHR) management and clinical notes.
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection to support best practices in addiction medicine and behavioral health treatment outcomes.
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions such as PTSD or behavioral health challenges.
- Demonstrated proficiency in psychotherapy modalities including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and group therapy facilitation.
- Strong background in client assessment, diagnosis coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical terminology relevant to addiction counseling.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems (EHR/EHR), medical documentation standards, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working within diverse cultural backgrounds and applying culturally sensitive approaches to mental health and behavioral care.
- Knowledge of crisis management techniques, intake procedures, mental health assessment tools, and behavioral management strategies.
- Ability to work effectively in hospital settings or community-based environments while adhering to clinical documentation standards.
