Key Responsibilities:
Lead Safety Excellence
- Oversee, implement, and enforce all company safety programs, policies, and procedures for both job sites and fleet operations.
- Serve as the primary safety resource for employees and management, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Training & Leadership
- Conduct new hire safety orientations in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Lead OSHA 10 & 30 training, First Aid/CPR, equipment operation training, and additional safety courses as needed.
- Chair the Safety Committee and facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Train supervisors and employees on safety responsibilities and best practices.
Job Site & Project Support
- Develop job-specific safety plans for new project start-ups.
- Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to review and implement project safety requirements.
- Conduct frequent job site safety inspections (in-state and out-of-state) and provide detailed reports with photos and corrective actions.
- Stop unsafe work when imminent life hazards or major property damage risks exist.
- Conduct pre-tilt lifting safety training and oversee tilt-wall operations for compliance.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with OSHA construction standards and respond to State and Federal OSHA investigations.
- Maintain accurate records for training, inspections, corrective actions, and accident investigations.
- Work with Human Resources and insurance representatives to manage workers' compensation claims.
- Maintain OSHA 300 Logs and support initiatives to reduce the company's EMR rating.
What We're Looking For:
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety (preferred).
- 4 years of experience in commercial construction safety.
- Strong knowledge of concrete, cast-in-place, tilt-wall, and masonry construction.
Certifications
- OSHA 500 certification (authorized to teach OSHA 10 & 30).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Forklift, Man-lift, Signalman, and Rigging Instructor certifications.
- Knowledge of Fleet Safety and State & Federal DOT safety requirements.
Skills & Abilities
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Confident, professional, and diplomatic when handling challenging situations.
- Proven teaching, facilitation, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and menu-driven systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly and perform physical job site inspections (walking, bending, climbing ladders, etc.).
