Role Description The Commercial Lines Processing Agent is a part-time, hybrid role based in South Burlington, VT. This position is responsible for supporting the commercial lines team by processing new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy changes accurately and within established timelines. Day-to-day tasks include data entry into agency and carrier systems, preparing and issuing certificates of insurance, handling billing and policy document requests, and maintaining complete and organized client files. The agent communicates with carriers and internal staff to resolve discrepancies, obtain missing information, and ensure policies reflect correct coverage details. This role also assists with basic client service inquiries, follows agency procedures for compliance and documentation, and contributes to smooth office operations and a positive client experience.
Qualifications
- Ability to accurately process and review insurance documents, including applications, endorsements, certificates of insurance, and policy renewals.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, including data entry, file management, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for working with clients, carriers, and internal team members, both in writing and by phone.
- Proficiency with office software and agency management systems; comfort learning carrier portals and related technology tools.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, follow established procedures, and work both independently and collaboratively with the commercial lines team.
- Prior experience in insurance, finance, or related administrative roles preferred; commercial lines experience is a plus.
