T&R Properties has been in business for over 40 years and is a growing real estate development and construction company seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our in-house team. This role is responsible for managing the civil engineering aspects of a variety of development projects, including residential subdivisions, apartment communities, industrial developments, and large-scale commercial developments throughout Central Ohio and the Midwest.
Position Summary
This role will oversee third-party engineering consultants and contractors, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. The position works closely with the company's development and construction teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Retain, direct, and manage third-party civil engineering consultants.
- Coordinate environmental studies, entitlement planning, and horizontal infrastructure design for development projects.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain project schedules for engineering consultants.
- Review and approve consultant invoices and draw requests.
- Assist with and oversee the regulatory approval process with local, state, and other governmental agencies.
- Coordinate and administer horizontal construction activities performed by third-party contractors.
- Monitor project progress to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Collaborate with internal development and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in the evaluation of prospective land acquisitions by providing engineering and site development analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
- Experience in land development, site development, or civil engineering consulting.
- Knowledge of residential, multifamily, industrial, and commercial site development.
- Familiarity with permitting and regulatory processes in Ohio is preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- The candidate needs to provide experience with problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple consultants and projects simultaneously.
Preferred Experience
- Experience coordinating with local municipalities and regulatory agencies.
- Understanding of site grading, utility design, stormwater management, and horizontal infrastructure construction.
- Project management and/or construction management experience.
- Experience with site civil design submittal applications and permitting with local municipalities and State of Ohio.
- Experience supporting land acquisition due diligence and development feasibility evaluations.
