MR. PROCTOR
Baby Boomer | Male-Identifying | Any Ethnicity
A dedicated History teacher who is ready for retirement but still finds the enthusiasm necessary to teach teenagers. Cheery of disposition, his goal is to find the joy in everything, even when life gets too difficult. Mr. Proctor is what some would consider an "institution" at the school. Having taught there for many decades, Proctor now finds himself teaching alongside his former students.
SYNOPSIS: T.O.Y. — Teacher of the Year is a comedy/drama set in a middle school outside Tampa, Florida, following a group of educators navigating the increasingly complicated realities of the American education system. Between student behavior, district and state policies, administrative bureaucracy, evaluations, parents, and the struggle to maintain lives outside the classroom, these teachers find themselves fighting not only to keep their jobs, but to hold onto the reasons they became educators in the first place.
Inspired by real situations faced by Florida educators, T.O.Y. takes place primarily within the school's administrative conference room and teachers' lounge, giving audiences a look behind the classroom doors at the people tasked with holding everything together.
