Position Overview
The Training & Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating, developing, and improving employee training programs across the organization. This role oversees the learning management system, supports onboarding and new hire training, facilitates internal training initiatives, develops assessments to measure training effectiveness, and helps create structure around company safety training and related processes. The Training Specialist works closely with operations and leadership to ensure employees are equipped, informed, and prepared to perform their roles safely and effectively.
This role initially will be on-site, with the potential of a hybrid work arrangement once training period is concluded.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the company’s learning management system, including training assignments, reporting, maintenance, and user support
- Coordinate and support companywide training initiatives, programs, and schedules
- Develop, update, and organize training materials, modules, job aids, and learning resources
- Facilitate onboarding-related training and support new hire training readiness
- Develop assessments, quizzes, and evaluation tools to measure comprehension, readiness, and training effectiveness
- Track and report training completion, overdue assignments, and program outcomes
- Partner with operations leaders and subject matter experts to improve training consistency and role readiness
- Help establish and maintain structure around safety training, safety documentation, and safety-related learning initiatives
- Identify gaps in training content, completion, and effectiveness, and recommend improvements
- Support continuous improvement of employee development programs and internal training processes
What you Bring
- 3–5 years of experience in training, learning and development, onboarding, HR support, safety coordination, or a related role
- Experience working in construction, warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, installation, field services, or another operational environment strongly preferred
- Experience administering or supporting a learning management system and maintaining training records
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and follow-up items simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate training and build practical training materials
- Ability to create structure, document processes, and develop training content, assessments, job aids, and SOPs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with BambooHR, Trainual, or similar systems preferred
- Basic knowledge of safety training requirements, OSHA concepts, and employee onboarding processes preferred
- Ability to work independently, build relationships across departments, and communicate effectively with both field employees and leadership
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time to ensure training consistency, safety compliance, and quality assurance
