About the Job:

T&M Equipment Company has an immediate opening for a Junior Buyer to join our team in Merrillville, IN. A Junior Buyer is an essential member of the procurement team, for the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials components, and services required for our manufacturing operations. This role involves a combination of administrative, analytical, and negotiation skills.

• Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
• Conduct research to identify and evaluate potential new suppliers and vendors based on price, quality, and delivery speed.
• Assist in negotiating prices and contract terms with suppliers to support cost-effective purchasing.
• Track orders and coordinate with suppliers to confirm timely delivery of goods and services.
• Maintain and update records of all purchases, including pricing data, supplier information, and delivery dates.
• Perform market research to stay informed on industry trends and identify opportunities for new products or substitute materials.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their specific procurement requirements and material needs.
• Monitor inventory levels of materials and products to assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels.

Qualifications:

Fields of study that are particularly advantageous include business, finance, and supply management.

Having experience in related administrative or support positions. This helps develop the organizational and analytical skills necessary for procurement.

A Junior Buyer scrutinizes price quotes and proposals to identify discrepancies and opportunities for savings. This involves comparing supplier pricing against historical data, market rates, and internal budgets to ensure the company receives the most favorable terms.

In supplier vetting involves conducting detailed evaluations of potential vendors to assess their reliability, quality standards, and financial Logistics Coordination involves actively managing the flow of goods from the supplier to the company. The Junior Buyer works to resolve shipping discrepancies, track inbound freight, and ensure that delivery timelines align with production schedules and operational needs.

Meticulous attention to detail is applied to every purchase order to prevent costly errors. This includes verifying item numbers, quantities, agreed-upon pricing, and delivery dates to ensure the transaction proceeds smoothly and aligns with contractual terms.
