T&M Associates is seeking a Supervising Construction Inspector based in our Bloomfield, NJ office, supporting municipal and county infrastructure projects throughout Northern New Jersey. This senior-level role serves as the Owner’s representative during the construction phase, ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
The Principal Construction Inspector functions as a technical specialist, applying advanced inspection practices to complex assignments and making independent decisions on most technical issues. This role may also provide guidance or oversight to junior inspectors or project team members.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Owner’s on-site representative during construction.
- Perform construction inspection and administration for roadway reconstruction, utility installations, water and sewer systems, concrete work, grading, drainage structures, and site development projects.
- Ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Prepare and maintain daily field reports and inspection documentation.
- Identify and resolve field issues while coordinating with contractors, project managers, and municipal representatives.
- Provide guidance or oversight to junior inspectors or project team members when needed.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 10 years of progressive construction inspection experience, preferably on municipal or public works projects.
- PE license or NICET Levels I–IV certifications preferred.
- Experience with public works, roadway, utility, grading, and drainage projects.
- Knowledge of zoning, subdivision, and land development regulations is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting and documentation.

T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $95,000 - $120,000. The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
