What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Planner 1 position at T&M Associates?
T&M Associates is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Planner 1 to join our Planning Group! This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to advance their career while gaining experience across a wide range of municipal, regional, and community planning projects. This role will provide exposure to master plans, zoning ordinances, affordable housing plans, redevelopment studies, and other comprehensive planning initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Prepare planning studies, reports, and related documents.
- Assist in the review of development and land use applications.
- Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and data collection.
- Provide technical support in the preparation of master plans, zoning ordinances, affordable housing plans, and redevelopment plans.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis, mapping, and presentation materials.
- Attend and support public meetings, planning board hearings, and community engagement events.
- Collaborate closely with senior planners and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality planning solutions.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline preferred; Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional planning experience preferred.
- Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills required.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and other planning software preferred.
- Eligibility to sit for the New Jersey Professional Planner (PP) licensing exam within two years of hire (if not already licensed).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
T&M Associates is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices in compliance with applicable laws, including the New Jersey Equal Pay Act. T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $62,500- $75,000. The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
