POSITION OVERVIEW
TITLE: 1:1 Individual Special Education Student Assistant
STATUS/FLSA: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: TEACHING ASSISTANT
SUPERVISOR: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 Days (if employed for the full school year). Salary determined by the schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Principal.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to assist the classroom teachers in daily duties and the management of individual with disabilities. Responsible for helping to maintain positive student behaviors and classroom structures on a daily basis. Must meet the Highly Qualified requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1) With direct teacher supervision, assist with the presentation, completion, and submission of instructional tasks.
2) Assist with keeping student focused, organized, and completing daily work
3) Supervise student during classroom breaks, lunch, and other unstructured times of the day.
4) Assist with personal care, hygiene, and medical safety as needed.
5) Maintain individual student data and records. Collect and share individual student progress monitoring data as needed on an individual basis.
6) Lead student to the bus area and ensure he/she is loaded on the correct bus. Ensure safe transitions throughout the day, including pick-up/drop-off times and areas.
7) Other duties as assigned.

Ability to implement instructional activities designed by teachers.
Ability to effectively use technology for both student learning and completion of job responsibilities.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE
Use computers for data entry; or use hand-held power equipment or light machinery; Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets or custom applications; use printers, laminator, copiers, die cut machine, binder machine, and other office equipment.
EDUCATION: COMPLETION OF AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE
EXPERIENCE: 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR EDUCATION
LICENSES: REQUIRED: Paraprofessional Certificate / Highly Qualified / CPR / First Aid Certification
CERTIFICATION: PREFERRED: Early childhood credentials would be preferred for Teaching Assistants assigned to early childhood and elementary levels. Annual training updates in Crisis Prevention Intervention. Training in applied verbal behavior strategies for children.
