Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Process payroll and handle payroll-related tasks in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Maintain general ledger accounting by recording transactions accurately according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant accounting standards
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for internal review and external reporting purposes
- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and account analysis to support organizational planning and decision-making
- Conduct account reconciliation activities regularly to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Experience
- Proven bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles
- Hands-on experience with popular accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of corporate accounting practices, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, and public accounting is highly desirable
- Familiarity with payroll processing, tax experience, bank reconciliation, and account analysis is essential
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data management and financial report writing
- Understanding of GAAP standards and technical accounting concepts related to general ledger reconciliation and journal entries
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform 10-key typing accurately under time constraints
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and external auditors
