CIVIL ENGINEER
Grade I, II, and III Engineers (GS-5 to GS-9)
Entry-Level to Early Career (0–5 Years Experience)
T.G. Miller, P.C. is a well-established and highly respected civil engineering and land surveying firm based in Ithaca, NY. For over 50 years, we have served the Finger Lakes region, delivering thoughtful and practical engineering solutions to municipal, higher education, and private clients. Our work focuses on water and wastewater infrastructure, site development, stormwater management, and permitting.
We are seeking motivated entry-level and early-career Civil Engineers, including recent graduates, to join our team. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful local projects while developing your technical skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Overview
This position reports to a Project Manager within our Engineering Department. You will receive direct mentorship and hands-on project experience, with increasing responsibility over time. Work includes planning, design, and construction support for a variety of projects, including land development and municipal infrastructure such as roadways, water systems, sanitary sewer, and stormwater facilities.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Performing engineering calculations for site and infrastructure design
- Preparing plans, specifications, and bidding documents
- Assisting with engineering reports, technical narratives, and cost estimates
- Supporting permitting efforts and coordinating with regulatory agencies
- Assisting with construction phase services, including site visits and documentation
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering (required)
- 0–5 years of experience (internships/co-ops considered)
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn):
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., HydroCAD, EPA SWMMM or similar)
- Stormwater permitting (SPDES / MS4 experience a plus)
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment
