Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Chassis Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining intermodal chassis to ensure safety and reliability and DOT compliance. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, with an emphasis on quality workmanship and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on intermodal chassis.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, suspension work, and wheel alignments.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Repair or replace transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and other essential components.
- Operate power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Conduct fabrication tasks as needed for custom repairs or modifications.
- Use diagnostic tools for automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a chassis mechanic or in automotive repair with dealership experience preferred.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, electrical systems, and mechanical diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding (including MIG/TIG), soldering, and use of hand tools.
- Ability to perform complex repairs involving transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, diesel engines, shocks & struts.
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Physical ability to lift heavy components safely and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation.
- Relevant certifications or licenses related to heavy equipment operation or automotive repair are advantageous but not mandatory. This position is ideal for experienced mechanics passionate about maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and performance across diverse machinery types.
