The Opportunity
We are seeking a full-time Litigation Attorney to join our Hartford office. This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants hands-on responsibility, direct client contact, and the chance to develop as a trial lawyer while working with an experienced defense team. The role includes managing cases from inception through resolution, drafting and arguing motions, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, appearing in court, negotiating resolutions, and preparing matters for trial. Trial experience and portable business are welcome but not required.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload of civil defense matters from early assessment through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, reports, and other litigation documents
- Advise clients and insurers with clear, practical, and strategic recommendations
- Conduct legal research and develop well-supported litigation strategies
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, negotiations, and trial preparation
What We’re Looking For
- Admission to the Connecticut Bar and in good standing
- 4 years of appropriate experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, or defense-side trial practice
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Confidence communicating with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, and the court
- Experience with depositions, contested hearings, mediations, or trials is a plus
- Experience in products liability, construction defect, premises liability, professional liability, automobile, or trucking claims is helpful but not required
