Position Overview
SZPM Consultants is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing team in Fairfax, VA. The ideal candidate will support engineering design, technical studies, and project delivery for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and play a key role in delivering high‑quality engineering services aligned with SZPM’s commitment to excellence.
Responsibilitie
- sAssist in developing and managing water/wastewater programs with a focus on treatment, pump stations, and conveyance systems
- .Support treatment plant process evaluations, troubleshooting, feasibility studies, bench‑scale and pilot‑scale testing, and design
- .Assist with permitting and regulatory coordination across local, state, and federal agencies—an SZPM specialty supported by extensive permitting experience
- .Work with interdisciplinary design teams across SZPM’s regional offices to prepare detailed construction documents
- .Contribute to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and meeting client deadlines
- .Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utilities, and agency review staff to ensure timely project delivery, leveraging SZPM’s strong relationships with regional agencies

Qualificatio
- nsB.S. in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineeri
- ng3–5 years of progressive experience in public‑sector water and wastewater project
- s.Engineer‑in‑Training (FE) certification requir
- edExperience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is require
- d.Familiarity with modeling and GIS tools (e.g., BioWin, GIS platforms)—consistent with SZPM’s technical capabilitie
