Job Description
The CNC programmer position at Sytech will be responsible for operating and maintaining the CNC equipment. This position will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints, inputting the design specifications, developing new CNC programs for production runs or modify existing programs for different machines, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. This position may also be required to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
To ensure success as a CNC Programmer, this position should have experience with programming 2 and 5 axis CNC mills, working with computer-aided design programs such as Mastercam, working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work unsupervised. Ultimately, a top-class CNC programmer works quickly and efficiently, ensuring all products meet the specifications of the customer.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Read technical drawings and design models, set up the machines in accordance with these blueprints.
- Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
- Inputting the product design into the computer modeling software.
- Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications.
- Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.
- Consider tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly.
- Choosing and loading the correct cutting tools for the job.
- Loading raw materials into the CNC machine.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines and the manufacturing process as they arise.
- Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening.
- Purchasing Cutters and consumables that are used on the floor.
- Design tooling and fixtures to Poka-yoke manufacturing in the Machining area.
- Able to make shop floor prints and directions for the manufacturing area.
- Train new employees in how to properly operate CNC machines and programs.
Physical Demands
- Must possess the ability to concentrate, focus, and pay strict attention to detail.
- Must be able to maintain a quick and steady pace working efficiently throughout the shift.
- Rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, use of high and low impact vibratory tools, flexion/extension
- Exposure to noise, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm and ears.
- Requires repetitive motion along with lifting and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Good manual dexterity is required for operating equipment and moving workpieces and eye-hand coordination.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Adaptable to a changing work environment.
- Busier periods may require 12-hour work shifts.
- Contact with metals, lubricants, solvents, and exposure to noise.
- Frequently lift to/from floor-up to 50 lbs.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 to 5 years of previous experience working in a manufacturing setting is required.
- 2 to 5 years’ experience as a CNC programmer, preferred.
- Extensive experience with computer modeling software. Familiarity with Mastercam and GeoPath.
- Experience programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex manufacturing problems.
- Effective decision maker with a can-do attitude
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints designs.
- The ability to stick to and meet deadlines.
- Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise.
- The ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
- Should have a positive and professional attitude.
- Available to work weekends and overtime.
- Capable of standing for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for short periods of time.
Environmental Exposure:
- Manufacturing metal fabrication environment.
- Confined spaces, high noise levels, moving objects such as machinery, forklifts and carts.
- Exposure to hot or cold temperatures when working in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled (especially during summer months).
- Contact with metals, lubricants, and solvents.
