About the Opportunity

Our client in the omni-channel retail space is seeking an experienced Controller to provide support for a global inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) function. This company is newly live on NetSuite and preparing for their first close processes.

This is a highly specialized cost accounting engagement requiring hands-on Oracle NetSuite standard costing experience within a multi-entity environment. The organization recently completed a global NetSuite implementation and is navigating its initial month-end close cycles in the new ERP environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Standard Costing & COGS

• Manage and refine NetSuite standard costing across multiple entities and product lines.
• Analyze and explain standard cost variances, including purchase price variances and inventory revaluations.
• Own landed cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate allocation and reporting of inventory-related costs.
• Partner with purchasing, supply chain, and logistics teams to maintain accurate product costing.

Inventory Management & Reconciliations

• Reconcile inventory quantities and valuations across multiple international entities and warehouse locations.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, stock movements, write-offs, and adjustments.
• Prepare inventory reserve and provision analyses.
• Reconcile inventory-in-transit and intercompany inventory balances.

Logistics & Cost Analysis

• Analyze third-party logistics (3PL), freight, and shipping costs.
• Investigate cost variances by channel, region, and distribution network.
• Support operational leaders with cost analysis to improve fulfillment and logistics decisions.
• Review inventory-related accounts payable transactions for appropriate cost allocation.

Month-End Close & Process Improvement

• Lead inventory and COGS month-end close activities, including accruals and journal entries.
• Establish scalable and repeatable close processes within NetSuite.
• Maintain audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation.
• Develop comprehensive process documentation and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated hands-on Oracle NetSuite standard costing experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
• Strong expertise in:
• Standard costing
• Product costing
• Landed cost accounting
• Inventory reconciliation
• Cost variance analysis
• 5 years of accounting experience within a product-based business, including consumer goods, retail, eCommerce, manufacturing, or FMCG environments.
• Experience managing inventory and landed costs across multiple entities, countries, or warehouse locations.
• Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Flexibility to collaborate with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting early close cycles following an ERP implementation.
• Exposure to eCommerce and marketplace platforms such as Shopify and Amazon.
• Experience analyzing logistics, freight, and 3PL costs.
• Familiarity with IFRS reporting standards.
