SRM is seeking an experienced Machinery Maintenance Mechanic to support operations at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport (NUWC Keyport). This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting a broad range of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment used in fabrication and production environments.
The ideal candidate will have well-rounded, hands-on industrial maintenance experience and the ability to diagnose equipment problems, perform repairs, replace or fit components, reassemble machinery, and make necessary adjustments to return equipment to safe and reliable operation.
Role Description The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role located in Keyport, WA. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of industrial and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, completing corrective repairs, and documenting work performed in maintenance logs or computerized systems. The mechanic will inspect machinery for wear and safety hazards, replace or adjust parts, and coordinate with supervisors and other technical staff to plan maintenance activities and minimize downtime. The role may also involve reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics, following relevant safety and regulatory standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform comprehensive Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance on a variety of machinery.
- Demonstrated experience with Preventive Maintenance programs to reduce failures and extend equipment life.
- Strong skills in Corrective Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards, regulations, and best practices in an industrial or government facility environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical, industrial, or maintenance fields is preferred.
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant hands-on experience in machinery maintenance in industrial, military, or government settings is beneficial.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment certifications in accordance with applicable Navy, DoD, and government requirements.
