Summary: 

This role is a technical resource supporting the design, expansion, and operation of Energy Transfer’s natural gas, hydrocarbon liquid, and alternative energy facilities and linear projects. The role involves hydraulic modeling, detailed data and system analysis, optimization, engineering design, and collaboration with multiple disciplines to design, construct, and maintain safe, reliable, and commercially successful operations across the asset footprint.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

·         Develop and maintain pipeline simulation models to assess capacity availability and support Commercial proposals and Operational needs across systems.

·         Perform transient and steady-state pipeline simulation analysis to determine capacity and scope requirements for new projects and compliance with existing contracts, safety, and regulatory requirements.

·         Perform steady-state and dynamic multi-phase process simulation using BR&E ProMax and Aspen HYSYS software.

·         Develop front-end engineering design and scope documentation and support production of cost and schedule estimates for growth and operational projects.

·         Layout natural gas, liquid hydrocarbon, and/or alternative fuels gathering and transmission systems. Designs will incorporate sizing of pipes, regulation, pumps, compression, tanks, measurement, surge relief, drag reducing agents, and liquid handling facilities.

·         Analyze system-wide operations for optimization opportunities.

·         Execute system reliability, peak day analysis, forecasting, quality tracking, blending analysis, and fuel optimization studies and recommendations.

·         Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Measurement, Project Management, Legal, Commercial Supply, Marketing, Transportation and Storage personnel during proposal development, estimation, and execution.

·         Monitor proposed Commercial Supply, Transport, and Marketing contracts / facility agreements to ensure compliance with existing contract obligations relative to quality, pressures, and volumes.

·         Assist Control Centers and Operations with outage coordination related to Outages, Emergencies, Integrity Assessment, Encroachments, and Construction activities.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Bachelor of Science Degree – Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Civil preferred)

Experience:

·         Minimum 1 year of pipeline network simulation modeling principles and practices.

·         Minimum 2 years in a natural gas and/or hazardous liquid pipeline engineering role or equivalent.

·         Experience modeling crude oil gathering systems preferred and highly valued.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Manage and execute multiple projects concurrently, while effectively communicating with customers and support staff of varying skills and degrees of experience.

·         Knowledgeable in hazardous liquid and gas engineering principles, standards and specifications and industry and regulatory rules and regulations pertaining to the 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195 for pipelines and related facilities plus other industry standards, guidelines, and codes.

·         Analytical ability and ability to review, understand and interpret engineering drawings, alignment sheets, survey data, GIS data, and industry and regulatory codes and standards.

·         Proficiency with personal computer applications including the Microsoft Office product suite.

·         Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.

 Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Associate Engineer level requires a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and 0-3 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Engineer level requires a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and 6 years of relevant job-related experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience with gas and liquids modeling software: Gregg Engineering WinFlow\WinTran\NextGen, DNV GL (formerly GL Noble Denton) Synergi, and Emerson PipelineStudio\PipelineOptimizer (or equivalent).

·         Experience with plant simulation software: BR&E ProMax, Aspen HYSYS, or UniSim.

·         Experience with pump, compressor, and control valve modeling software.

·         Visual Basic and Python

·         SQL, DataParc, ParcView, and SEEQ

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Normal office working conditions and field work
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
