What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician / Seed Health Technician position at Systems Ally?
Title: Seed Health Technician
High School Diploma or Bachelors Degree required.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Complete standardized procedures for detection and quantification of bacteria, viruses, and fungi in vegetable seeds
- Read and understand work instructions and procedures
- Apply aseptic technique and defined hygiene procedures to ensure quality and containment of plant pathogens
- Accurately record and enter test results
- Perform repetitive work while maintaining focus on detail and quality (e.g. grinding vegetable seeds, washing lab dishes, and autoclaving materials)
- Recognize and report deviations from standard procedures
- Learn and follow safety procedures
- Contribute to enhancing safety culture
- Contribute to miscellaneous lab improvement projects
- Apply basic laboratory and math skills

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma (minimum) or Bachelor’s in Science, Biology or related field preferred
- 1-2 years of experience as a Lab Technician preferred
Working Conditions:
- Laboratory work, including growth room/chamber
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and bending performing repetitive tasks
- Occasional lifting 30-40 lbs., frequent lifting 15-20 lbs.
- Handling of quarantine plant pathogens in a restricted facility
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
