What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Trainer - Power Generation position at Systematic Business Consulting?
Job Summary: This is not a professor role — it is a Senior Energy / Power Generation Technician who can teach. The Technical Trainer delivers hands-on instruction to technicians and students on energy and power generation systems -- ranging from large generator systems to marine power systems -- in both classroom and shop environments.
Ideal Candidate Background: The ideal candidate brings real field service experience and the ability to explain clearly how these systems work, and brings a passion for teaching. Typical backgrounds include:
- Current Technical Trainers in the energy or power generation space
- Field Service Technicians transitioning into a training role
- Senior Shop Technicians with strong diagnostic and instructional ability
- Military equipment mechanics with hands-on systems experience
- Community college power generation seeking an industry-side role
- Dealer or OEM background preferred — e.g., Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Komatsu, CASE, Hitachi, or similar
Key Competencies
- Demonstrated ability to teach technical material in both classroom and shop settings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with power generation systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
- Ability to develop presentations and design practical lab exercises
- Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Requirements
- 5 years in power generation – e.g., large generator systems, marine power, etc.
- Training, instructional, curriculum development experience
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Additional highly preferred credentials:
- Current/previous Level 4 Technician
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Willingness to travel as needed to support training initiatives and recruitment efforts.
