System is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer with a specialization in Electronic Medical/Health Record data to join our team. The primary responsibility for this role will be to design and deploy pipelines that integrate a data-intensive AI application with EMR/EHR data to improve patient outcomes through informed clinical decision making. The Data Engineer will report to our Head of AI and Engineering.
As Data Engineer, you will:
- Design, build, and deploy scalable data pipelines in support of machine learning and AI workflows
- Work with colleagues to design, build, and deploy applications that integrate with EMR/EHR systems, specifically Epic
- Prototype and research new tools for improving existing data infrastructure (e.g., vector databases and other tools for storing text embeddings)
The ideal candidate has:
- 3 years experience supporting data-driven or ML applications in production environments
- Strong experience designing and deploying data pipelines using orchestration tools like Prefect, Airflow, or dbt
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehouse platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake)
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and scientific research
- Familiarity with deploying containerized applications in cloud environments (e.g., Kubernetes)
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (Postgres)
- A proven ability to operate in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated team orientation with strong ability to drive projects autonomously as needed
The salary range for this position is $145,000 to $190,000 per year.
