Position: Mechanical Estimator
Location: Phoenix, AZ (85282)
Pay: $90k - $110k DOE
Summary: Produces detailed and conceptual cost estimates for commercial mechanical and plumbing systems using available information, historical data, and engineering judgment, including materials, equipment, labor, and direct and indirect costs.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with Commercial Mechanical Estimation
- HVAC experience required, plumbing experience appreciated
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
- Develops accurate project estimates using industry-standard methods and internal processes
- Prepares proposals, evaluates materials and pricing, and incorporates all scope changes promptly
- Reviews plans and specifications to fully define mechanical and plumbing scope, inclusions, and exclusions
- Evaluates vendor proposals and pricing for technical compliance, quality, and value
- Communicates bid-related issues, risks, and value engineering options to internal teams and clients
- Identifies cost-saving opportunities and supports continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintains organized estimating files and oversees bid database management
- Keeps current on estimating methods, codes, and installation practices for piping, plumbing, and sheet metal
- Supports project handoff to project management and field teams
- Participates in meetings, interviews, and negotiations, including contracts and change orders
- Provides guidance and mentorship to junior estimating staff
