Position Summary
The Senior Project Controls & Coordination Analyst supports the Major Projects team by bridging project management and cost controls functions across a large-scale capital portfolio (~$9B). This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, contract compliance, and effective coordination across a highly matrixed organization.
The position partners closely with Project Managers and Cost Controls leadership to drive portfolio visibility, maintain contract integrity, and support execution across internal teams and external partners.
Cost Controls Support
- Assist in tracking and analyzing project costs, budgets, and forecasts
- Pull and interpret financial data from SAP to support reporting and decision-making
- Monitor contract limits, expenditures, and vendor compliance
- Validate adherence to contract terms and financial controls
Project Management Support
- Support portfolio planning, phasing, and tracking activities
- Review consultant and construction scopes of work for alignment and completeness
- Ensure contracts are in place with internal staffing partners and EPC vendors
- Assist in maintaining project documentation and governance standards
- Perform detailed spend and variance analysis across the portfolio
- Act as a key coordination point between internal business units and external partners
- Facilitate communication across stakeholders in a complex, matrixed environment
- Support continuous improvement of reporting and coordination processes
- Analyzing cost and spend data in SAP
- Reviewing contracts, scopes of work, and vendor performance
- Tracking compliance with financial and contractual requirements
- Supporting portfolio reporting and scheduling activities
- Coordinating across internal teams and external consultants
- Collaborating closely with Project Managers and Cost Controls leadership
- Direct team: Manager, Cost Controls Project Manager, Project Manager
- Expanding leadership team with additional directors
- Indirect support: ~240 consultants and multiple business units (Transmission, Distribution, Gas)
- External partners include EPC firms and consulting organizations
Required:
- ~7 years of experience in project coordination, project controls, or similar roles
- Experience with SAP (financials, cost tracking, reporting)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Experience with contract review and cost analysis
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools
- Utilities or infrastructure industry experience
- SharePoint administration or setup experience
- Hybrid schedule: In-office Tuesday–Thursday, remote Monday & Friday
- Standard 40-hour workweek with flexible scheduling (typical start ~8:00 AM MT)
