Job Title: Nuclear Operations Procedure writer
Contractor Work Model: Remote – offsite
Responsibilities
- Develops and executes a plan for creating, organizing, and tracking development of administrative and operating procedures.
- Develops and maintains the processes and standards for writing and revising procedures and supporting software development and implementation.
- Coordinates with other departments for cross-discipline procedure reviews and database implementation.
- Utilizes smart procedures or other software tools to develop electronic procedures.
- Conducts or obtains necessary 10CFR50.59 and 10CFR72.48 reviews.
- Uses industry practices to develop high-quality procedures that minimize safety and human performance risks.
- Engages with industry peers, vendors, NEI, and other organizations to find innovative methods for procedure development and usage.
- Ensures procedures comply with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO criteria, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Provides training and mentorship on process standards for procedure development and revision.
- Incorporates new regulations, plant design changes, and feedback into procedures.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of plant design and operations to create effective procedures.
- Supervises collection and maintenance of auditable procedure records.
- Assists Procedure Manager with departmental goals, budget estimates, and project assignments.
- Performs additional tasks supporting procedure development schedules as needed.
- 3 years of experience as a nuclear power plant operator or 5 years writing nuclear power plant operations procedures.
- High level of knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and terminology.
- Experience interpreting nuclear information and standards in compliance with regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with smart procedures or similar software-based tools.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to procedural excellence.
- Self-starting attitude, capable of developing innovative solutions independently.
- Strong integrity, communication, teamwork skills, and understanding of regulatory impacts.
- Ability to adapt to changes in plant design, procedures, schedules, or project scope.
