Position Summary:
Design and develop electrical schematics, industrial control panels, and other associated control hardware for plastic extrusion equipment and applications.
Role Responsibilities and Priorities:
- Develop electrical schematics and detailed panel layouts for extrusion control systems that comply with electrical standards (UL508A, NEC, NFPA-79).
- Design, develop and modify schematics, detail drawings, assemblies, sub-assemblies, BOM’s and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical on new and legacy equipment.
- Participate in project kick off meetings, review equipment specifications, and develop an engineering design plan for each assigned project.
- Work collaboratively with all engineering disciplines (software, electrical and mechanical) to ensure successful completion of projects that meet specifications.
- Work closely with the assembly team to identify and resolve any panel or electrical assembly issues.
- Provide input for overall control system development initiatives based on feedback from engineering, operations, and field service.
- Provide technical support to all departments during procurement, assembly, testing and final acceptance of equipment.
- Assist the technical documentation coordinator with the preparation of as-built drawings and associated BOM’s.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred. Combination of work experience and applicable training and coursework may also be satisfactory.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical and controls experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Solid foundation and experience with design principles to develop control hardware for electromechanical systems.
