Shop Foreman – Food Processing Equipment Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead daily operations at our food processing equipment manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient production of high-quality, sanitary equipment used in food-grade environments. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in stainless steel fabrication, welding, and machining, along with proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coach, and schedule machinists, welders, and fabricators specializing in food-grade and stainless steel equipment.
- Review blueprints, work orders, and specifications with a focus on sanitary design requirements and precision fabrication.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining strict quality and food safety standards.
- Enforce a clean, organized shop environment that meets OSHA and food-industry sanitation requirements.
- Troubleshoot production and fabrication issues, particularly related to stainless steel, weld finishes, and hygienic design.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production processes.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training to develop technical and safety skills.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and quality teams to ensure equipment meets customer specifications and regulatory standards (e.g., food safety compliance).
- Manage inventory of raw materials, including stainless steel, and ensure proper handling to prevent contamination.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing, machining, welding, or fabrication, preferably in food-grade or sanitary equipment environments.
- Strong leadership, team management, and organizational skills in a production setting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including sanitary and hygienic design specifications.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and quality control standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with stainless steel fabrication, including TIG welding and polished finishes for sanitary applications.
- Familiarity with food industry standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, 3-A Sanitary Standards).
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
