Job Overview
We are seeking a part-time Director for the Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum. The ideal candidate will work in partnership with the Board of Directors in the daily operation, administration, planning and growth of the museum. Network and collaborate with other organizations on community events and programs. Identify grant opportunities, fundraising events and promote the museum through news and social media outlets. Utilize administrative and relationship management skills.
The Museum is located inside the Syracuse Community Center. Hours of operation are Tuesday - Saturday 10am to 2pm. Additional programs and presentations as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Board of Directors in the formulation of objectives for the museum and establishment of plans & procedures to carry them out.
- Recruit, schedule, train and supervise volunteers as needed, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
- Collaborate with board members, volunteers, patrons and donors to establish and maintain strong relationships, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Assist with developing and managing budgets, ensuring that programs are operated efficiently and effectively.
- Stay up to date on relevant legislation and regulations, ensuring that programs are compliant with all relevant standards.
- Conduct program evaluations and make recommendations for program development and improvement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and professionalism.
Skills
- Strong program management skills, with the ability to lead and manage complex programs.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with other organizations, volunteers, patrons and donors.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources.
- Experience in public speaking
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Photo Management Software. Proficient use of email and social media.
Qualifications
- Degree or other experience in Art History, English or Archaeology desired, but not required.
- Interest in local history of the Syracuse-Wawasee Community.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
