Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director Facilities Facility Operations, the Facilities Program Manager Facility Operations supports the daily operations of the Barnes Center at The Arch and satellite recreation facilities contributing to a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment. This position is responsible for supervising student staff, coordinating emergency protocols, conducting facility inspections, and enforcing operational policies. The role assists with staff training, scheduling, and payroll, and helps manage facility and event logistics using Fusion software. This role collaborates closely with the Facilities unit and shares responsibility for facility and event supervision. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred in recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, management or comparable degree.
  • 2 years’ experience managing recreation facilities or guest services and student staff.
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certifications required (must be obtained within six months of hire if not already certified).

Skills and Knowledge

  • Must possess strong communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of facility management and emergency action planning and procedures.
  • Ability to train/teach others.

Responsibilities

  • Open recreation facilities as scheduled.
  • Working as part of the Facilities work group assist with supervising daily operations of Barnes Center at The Arch recreation areas and satellite recreation facilities including Ernie Davis Fitness Center, Women’s Building, Women’s Building Fields & Courts.
  • Oversee student staff on duty, Coordinate Emergency Action Plans and building maintenance activities while on duty.
  • Enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operations and use.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with facilities team and Facilities Services to address maintenance and custodial needs.
  • Assist with the training, development, supervision, evaluation, scheduling and payroll for guest services student staff.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours and events.
  • Assist with implementing risk management and customer service plans for Facilities area.
  • Assist with facility scheduling and open recreation schedules.
  • Working with Assistant Facilities Director Guest Services, create semester and daily schedules in Fusion.
  • Manage facility set-ups for daily activities and special events.
  • Lead planning meetings with event groups and interact with event organizers to facilitate appropriate facility set-up and usage.
  • Create and develop special event programming for Barnes Center Recreation.
  • Assist with managing laundry operations, locker rental program and daily use lockers.
  • Ensure established closing procedures are followed.
  • Serve as secondary administrator for computerized recreation management software system (Fusion).
  • Assist with operation of and training for recreation management software relating to memberships, lockers and program registrations.
  • Assist with collecting data relating to facility operations, participation and participant satisfaction and learning.
