Programmer Mainframe or Cobol Developer at Remote

We are seeking an experienced Programmer – Advanced (Mainframe Developer) to support Medicaid IT systems and enterprise application initiatives. This role involves maintaining and enhancing production systems, implementing code changes, supporting ongoing development efforts, and collaborating with technical and business teams. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mainframe technologies, COBOL development, database systems, and troubleshooting within large-scale enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Medicaid Services teams and technical staff to implement coding changes and enhancements
• Develop, modify, test, and maintain COBOL and ADS applications using IDMS databases
• Analyze technical specifications and translate business requirements into application solutions
• Debug applications and perform unit, integration, and system testing
• Support QA, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and external testing efforts
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution
• Participate in application maintenance and knowledge transfer activities
• Document application logic, inputs, outputs, and technical processes
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
• Participate in rotational on-call support as needed

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent professional work experience
• 10 years of Mainframe development experience
• 10 years of experience with MVS COBOL
• 10 years of experience with JCL
• 10 years of experience with IDMS/Network
• 10 years of experience with DB2
• 7 years of experience with CA-ADS
• 5 years of experience with Changeman
• 5 years of experience with CICS
• 5 years of experience with VSAM

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAS
• Experience with File-Aid
• Experience supporting Medicaid or Medicare claims processing systems
• Experience with MQ
• Experience with Endevor
• Experience with Xpeditor
