Job Description
We are seeking an experienced NGS Specialist to support molecular biology and genomic sequencing operations within a high-complexity public health laboratory environment.This role will focus on performing molecular testing, genomic sequencing, validation of laboratory methods, troubleshooting sequencing assays, and maintaining sequencing instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms and strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, quality assurance, and CLIA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nucleic acid extraction using manual and automated methods
- Conduct molecular testing using PCR, MALDI-TOF, and NGS technologies
- Support genomic sequencing operations and sequencing assay troubleshooting
- Develop, validate, and implement new laboratory testing methods
- Prepare validation documentation and SOPs
- Perform quality control, instrument calibration, and maintenance activities
- Analyze, interpret, validate, and report laboratory results
- Maintain laboratory records and documentation in compliance with standards
- Participate in proficiency testing and laboratory quality assurance programs
- Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations and laboratory safety procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or related field
- Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms such as Illumina or PacBIO
- 2 years of high-complexity laboratory testing experience
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology, microbiology, and laboratory testing procedures
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation and automated analytical techniques
- Understanding of CLIA regulations and laboratory safety standards
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
