Job Summary

The Production Coordinator oversees the planning, scheduling, and coordination of production activities to support efficient workflow and on-time delivery. The role monitors job progress, maintains accurate production data, and works cross-functionally to align resources, materials, and priorities. This position supports operational efficiency by balancing customer demand with production capacity and coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules, providing Sales and Customer Service with firm delivery dates.
  • Monitor job start, progress, and completion through the ERP system, including job traveler tracking.
  • Update schedules for re-routing or workflow changes and coordinate blanket/stock order flow.
  • Serve as liaison between sales demand and operational capacity, expediting orders as needed.

Planning

  • Ensure all ARP requirements are completed before job release.
  • Plan larger or complex jobs to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Monitor scheduled job start/end dates and provide weekly status updates.
  • Review quotes for lead-time accuracy and recommend outsourcing when beneficial.
  • Assess workload and recommend overtime when necessary.

Purchasing, Materials & Vendor Coordination

  • Review purchase requirements and coordinate with Purchasing to align material deliveries with the schedule.
  • Monitor outsourced operations to ensure PO timing supports project completion.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding lead times, order status, and delivery schedules.

ERP, Reporting & Inventory

  • Use ERP to review job status, stock levels, purchase orders, and customer information.
  • Correct time ticket discrepancies and maintain accurate job data.
  • Conduct cycle counts of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; assist with annual physical inventory.
  • Generate production status updates and report performance trends.

General

  • Maintain effective communication across departments to support workflow and customer expectations.
  • Travel to vendor or customer meetings as needed.
  • Perform special projects or additional duties as assigned.

Education, Skills And Experience

  • B.S Degree in operations, business management, or equivalent experience in the industry. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong understanding of industry market and conditions.
  • Working knowledge of technical software that is specific to industry.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
