Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the team of three full-time buyers, in addition to executing capital and other high-value purchases. This role is crucial in helping the team resolve issues with delivery, cost, and quality to ensure we can assemble and ship machinery to our customers around the world. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, effective vendor management, and hands-on execution capabilities across daily procurement operations.
What You’ll Do:
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and supervise a team of 3 full-time buyers.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor performance to align with key performance indicators.
- Mentor, coach, and conduct annual reviews to ensure professional growth.
Procurement
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for commercial components, capital equipment, and indirect spend.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and aftermarket sales teams to understand technical requirements and ensure timely material availability.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, ensuring compliance with quality and delivery standards.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
- Place purchase orders for capital equipment and other high-value purchases.
Logistics
- Oversee logistics of domestic and international truckload shipments.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records, ERP data, and purchasing documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing practices, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain monthly key performance indicators for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering related field and 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally within custom, make-to-order or capital equipment manufacturing.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or similar).
