About the Role

Synolo Therapeutics is seeking a highly strategic Principal Scientist, In Vivo Immunology to lead the design and execution of in vivo pharmacology strategies across our multispecific biologics pipeline.

This individual will serve as the in vivo immunology subject matter expert, responsible for architecting disease models, defining study endpoints, driving translational hypotheses, and ensuring rigorous, data-driven decision-making across programs. As a key scientific leader, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to advance molecules from discovery through preclinical development.

This is a high-impact role for a scientist who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is motivated by building scientific capabilities that directly shape pipeline strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead in vivo pharmacology strategy across one or more discovery-stage programs, shaping experimental direction and program-level decisions.
  • Design and refine disease-relevant murine models (e.g., syngeneic, humanized, immune-competent) to evaluate multispecific biologics.
  • Design studies, define endpoints, and establish biomarker strategies to interrogate mechanism of action and therapeutic differentiation.
  • Oversee and critically evaluate outsourced in vivo studies conducted at CROs, ensuring scientific rigor and data integrity.
  • Lead in vivo and ex vivo experimentation, including dosing (IV, IP, SC), tumor inoculation, tissue collection, and immune profiling (flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD).
  • Integrate and interpret complex in vivo and PK/PD datasets, translating findings into actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Establish best practices for experimental design, documentation, and data quality, maintaining high standards within the immunology function.
  • Mentor and provide scientific guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Demonstrated expertise in immunology and in vivo pharmacology, particularly in the evaluation of biologics.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex in vivo mouse models to interrogate immune function and therapeutic activity.
  • Previous hands-on experience with dosing (IV, IP, SC), tumor inoculation, tissue collection, and immune profiling (flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD).
  • Strong understanding of biologic modalities, including antibodies and multispecific constructs.
  • Experience integrating PK analysis (e.g., WinNonlin) and bioanalytical assays into pharmacology studies.
  • Deep hands-on experience in immune profiling techniques, including multi-parameter flow cytometry (FACS), immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA, and MSD.
  • Proven ability to independently drive scientific strategy while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts.

Education & Experience:
  • We recognize that exceptional scientific leadership can follow many paths and welcome candidates with diverse career trajectories.
  • PhD, MS, or BS in Immuno-Oncology, Immunology, Cell Biology, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience is required for PhD candidates, 10 years for MS candidates, and 15 years for BS candidates.

Title will be commensurate with experience.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience advancing biologic therapeutics from discovery through IND-enabling studies, including development of translational strategies that connect in vivo findings to clinical hypotheses.
  • Prior experience building or scaling in vivo pharmacology capabilities within a growing biotech environment, influencing program direction and cross-functional decision-making.
