Who We're Looking For General Summary This position reports directly to a senior level managing attorney and is responsible for providing basic legal analysis and advice across a broad range of legal issues of minimal to moderate complexity under general managing attorney supervision to the various functional departments of the company and provides basic legal services as required. This role requires a good working knowledge of common law legal concepts with respect to contract law and general contract drafting procedures. - Some of What You'll Do Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Review and respond to internal commercial contract requests for new contracts, amendments to existing contracts, or other documents, which will require: • Review any exceptions or modifications to standard commercial contracts, effectively negotiate basic to moderately complex terms and conditions with customers or vendors to address and resolve concerns and minimize corporate exposure with assistance from senior legal counsel as necessary. • Identify issues of general scope requiring basic legal review and timely coordinate with internal functional departments (e.g., Sales, Product Management, Customer Service, Finance, etc.) as appropriate, and managing attorney, as needed. • Provide a point of contact for Sales and other Syniverse personnel with regard to contract and other document and business issues. • Ensure the accuracy of the company’s commercial contracts, amendments and renewals for assigned area of responsibility. • Assist with drafting legal responses to customer Request for Proposals. Perform the following: • Assist paralegal(s) with the management of corporate entities at direction of managing attorney. • Prepare basic correspondence, contract file documentation, and internal memoranda for review by Legal management. • Handle ad hoc contract-related work assignments from Legal management. Job Requirements: • JD degree from an accredited U.S. law school. • Membership in good standing with the Florida Bar or approved in-house counsel status from the Florida Bar. • 2 years of commercial transactional law practice (in-house experience is a plus). • Ability to read, interpret, draft, modify and negotiate legal documents, analyze legal situations, and assist senior counsel as assigned. • Good business judgment and acumen. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Good verbal and written communication skills, including basic negotiation skills. • Ability to balance basic legal liability issues and commercial interests of the business. • Ability to successfully facilitate basic business deals with minimal impacts on revenue. • Strong personal computer skills. • Ability to manage a large workload with daily supervision and effectively prioritize workload and work concurrently on various matters of basic legal complexity. • Decisive, well organized, efficient and detail oriented. • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills. • Enthusiastic, ambitious and friendly self-starter. • Must work efficiently and effectively in an extremely fast-paced environment.
