Company Description

Syngenta Seeds is one of the world’s largest developers and producers of seed for farmers, commercial growers, retailers and small seed companies. Syngenta seeds improve the quality and yields of crops. High-quality seeds ensure better and more productive crops, which is why farmers invest in them. Advanced seeds help mitigate risks such as disease and drought and allow farmers to grow food using less land, less water and fewer inputs.

Syngenta Seeds brings farmers more vigorous, stronger, resistant plants, including innovative hybrid varieties and biotech crops that can thrive even in challenging growing conditions.

Syngenta Seeds is headquartered in the United States.

Job Description

At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's Applied Analytics team is seeking an innovative Data Analyst II to support data collection, management, validation, and integrity across the temperate hub.

You will support data integrity by managing and analyzing agricultural data across multiple crops, tracking adherence to data upload and storage requirements, developing and managing pipeline metrics, and consulting on R&D decisions and strategies to inform stakeholders in Europe and North America.

Accountabilities

  • Work with stakeholders on trialing, genotyping, breeding, and analytics teams to identify areas of improvement for current data strategy/usage, and drive change from prioritization to implementation.
  • Develop and track metrics to identify trends that inform R&D decisions and data strategy, and develop visualization tools to effectively communicate these insights.
  • Work with agronomists, scientists, and other R&D team members to understand data requests, translate requests to concrete deliverables, and facilitate production implementation.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues, help establish and maintain proper data feedback channels, and suggest innovative solutions to proactively prevent future issues.
  • Conduct periodic audits of data systems and processes to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements, lead training sessions, and provide technical support to field teams on proper data collection protocols and systems usage.

  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools like Tableau, RShiny, or Power BI, with a proven ability to tell the data's story to an audience. Experience with Streamlit apps is a plus.
  • Knowledge of design principles, data modeling, normalization, and creating database objects like tables, views, and indexes.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural research practices and principles.
  • The capacity to diagnose data issues and consult on effective solutions in a high-stakes, data-driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
