At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. To support this challenge, we are currently seeking a Sample Distribution Technician in Greensboro, NC.
The sample distribution technician is expected to dispense, fill and pack chemicals for shipping, support logistic activities for chemicals including receiving, storage, and procurement to meet domestic and international needs in P&S – Supply & Logistics.
Accountabilities
Chemical sample fulfillment, including the retrieval, mixing, and decanting of chemicals using ergonomic and scientific tools
Sample prefilling and packaging sample shipments
Assist with physical inventories of warehouse areas
Assist with data management projects
Organize email communications to individuals and groups
Transcribe notes, scan and file documents
Provide technical guidance and direct contract staff in shipment-related tasks
Coordinate daily activities with team of permanent and contract staff; liaise with permanent staff to aid process flow between group functions
Use inventory management software to process sample shipments, adjust inventory, maintain data
Complete administrative tasks related to sample request fulfilment such as printing documents and labelling samples
Compile data, updates spreadsheets and electronic databases
Assist with customer inquiries and historical record research tasks
Aid with laboratory/warehouse organization projects
Participate in evaluation of current processes and proactively propose ways to make core sample distribution processes more efficient, more accurate or more accessible for the intended users, with an emphasis on LEAN and Continuous Improvement activities.
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and move/lift heavy loads with material handling ergonomic equipment (pallet jacks, drum lifters, ladders, dollies, carts)
Knowledgeable of various mathematical systems (Metric, Imperial); competent in performing basic mathematical functions, and occasional advanced math (unit conversions, ratios, etc.)
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in time-sensitive situations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Adaptable to departmental and organizational ways of working
Capable of working independently and in team environments
Previous laboratory / warehouse inventory and logistics experience preferred
Ability to obtain/maintain company-sponsored DOT/IATA certification in the preparation of Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods for transport; prior experience with chemical shipment preparation would be highly regarded. Experience with/knowledge of GHS or OSHA safety and hazard communication would be a plus
Forklift experience or certification would be a plus
Chemistry/pesticide knowledge would be a plus
Experience using or building Smartsheet systems would be a plus
