Synergy Spine and Pain Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Receptionist to join our growing team. The Medical Assistant / Receptionist will support our Physicians and Providers in delivering exceptional care to patients. This role involves scheduling and patients, front desk activities, preparing exam and procedure rooms, ordering supplies, assisting with pre-operative and post-operative patient care, and maintaining smooth clinical operations.

Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: In-person
Pay Rate: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities
- Review and document patient histories, current medical problems, and reasons for visits.
- Verify patients’ insurance eligibility and benefits; schedule patient appointments.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
- Assist with patient preparation before exams and procedures.
- Ensure that all procedure patients have a current consent, history and physical (within 30 days), and complete medication list.
- Perform specialized procedures such as sterilization, equipment preparation, and specimen collection under physician supervision.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medications and medical supplies for procedures.
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms prior to patient appointments.
- Escort patients to and from examination, procedure, or recovery rooms.
- Assist the physician during procedures as directed.
- Provide pre and post-procedure patient support, including follow-up calls and reporting findings to providers.
- Maintain and log medical equipment maintenance and testing.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and management to ensure efficient operations.
- Adhere to HIPAA and all confidentiality regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of procedure rooms and clinical areas.
- Perform other administrative duties or special projects as assigned by Providers and Management.
Competencies
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to take vital signs.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and basic computer software.
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and general billing procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when needed.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to excellent patient care.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent - Required
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant -Required
- Certification:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification - Required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or MA Certification - Required
