What are the responsibilities and job description for the Risk Management Consultant position at Synergy-Solutions?
Risk Management Consultant
Company: Synergy Safety Group, LLC
Location: Denver Metro & Surrounding Areas (Hybrid Field/Remote Role)
About Us
Synergy Safety Group partners with transportation companies and insurance brokers to build safer, smarter, and more human-centered operations. We believe safety isn’t about catching mistakes—it’s about creating environments where people can thrive and go home safe every day.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Risk Management Consultant who understands that safety is as much about people as it is about policies. This role involves working directly with clients to strengthen their safety programs, ensure compliance with DOT and insurance standards, and drive real-world improvements in risk management practices. You’ll spend about 80% of your time in the field across the Denver Metro area and nearby regions, building relationships, leading discussions, and helping organizations see the “why” behind safer decisions. The remaining time can be spent remotely managing documentation, follow-ups, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with clients and insurance brokers to assess, support, and improve transportation safety programs.
- Conduct risk assessments, compliance reviews, and safety audits aligned with FMCSA/DOT regulations.
- Coach and consult with client leadership and frontline teams to address safety gaps and opportunities.
- Facilitate training and safety meetings that encourage engagement and accountability.
- Communicate findings and recommendations through professional, actionable reports.
- Collaborate with internal Synergy Safety Group team members and ask for support when needed to meet deadlines and project goals.
- Maintain clear, respectful, and empathetic communication with clients and colleagues.
- Assist in helping clients understand their needs, build trust and guide them towards solutions that highlight the value of our services.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience managing people or leading teams, especially in transportation, logistics, or safety-related roles.
- Strong working knowledge of DOT compliance, FMCSA regulations, and insurance expectations.
- Excellent communication skills—able to have tough conversations while showing empathy and professionalism.
- Not afraid of public speaking. Will be involved in partner presentations and employee safety meetings.
- Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize work.
- A natural problem solver who thinks critically and seeks collaborative solutions.
- Open to learning—willing to ask questions, accept feedback, and grow with the team.
- Comfortable working in a mix of remote and on-site environments.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (some travel required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in risk management, safety consulting, or insurance loss control.
- Familiarity with driver safety programs, claims management, or fleet safety performance metrics.
- Sales or customer relationship management experience.
Why Join Us
- Opportunity to make a real impact on how safety is practiced and perceived in the transportation industry.
- Supportive team culture that values learning, integrity, and human connection.
- Flexible work structure combining fieldwork and remote collaboration.
- Competitive compensation and travel reimbursement.
